Telephony / Voice Infrastructure Engineer (#12853)

Ready to Train a Mind That’s Not (Yet) Human?

Imagine being called in for a secret mission. A confidential client has entrusted us with something ambitious, strange, and thrilling: building a conversational AI that listens like a human, learns like a scholar, and speaks with purpose. This isn’t a product. It’s a presence. And it’s your chance to help shape it—right at the point where it all begins.

We’re assembling a select team of brilliant minds to work on a newly commissioned, stealth-mode project. The brief? Discreet. The data? One of a kind. The potential? Enormous. We can’t reveal the client’s name (yet), but trust us—when the curtains open, you’ll want to say you were there from the start.

If you’re excited by the unknown, passionate about intelligence (artificial and otherwise), and eager to leave your mark on something world-class and whisper-quiet (for now), then read on.

This isn’t just a job. It’s an origin story.

Role: Telephony / Voice Infrastructure Engineer

The One Who Makes the Machine Say “Hello”

Every conversation starts with a connection. And that connection is your domain.

As our Telephony / Voice Infrastructure Engineer, you are the silent conductor of every spoken interaction between user and AI. You’ll be responsible for building and scaling the systems that let people speak—and be heard—through a platform that fuses the Yellow Pages with AI agents, real-time language switching, and warm handovers to live humans.

You don’t just make the phone ring.
You design the entire voice stack.

What You’ll Do

– Architect and implement our VoIP backbone: SIP servers, softswitches, or Twilio/WebRTC integrations
– Ensure real-time voice routing between user and AI agent (and from AI agent to live human when needed)
– Build logic for call transfer, queueing, identity verification, and dynamic agent assignment
– Manage session state, call logs, and voice-data encryption with precision
– Optimize for latency, reliability, and multi-language audio quality
– Collaborate closely with frontend, backend, and AI teams to integrate speech recognition, synthesis, and call control seamlessly
– Support multi-region deployments with failover, scaling, and compliance in mind

Who You Are

– Deep experience with VoIP, SIP, PBX systems, WebRTC, or services like Twilio, Vonage, or Asterisk
– You understand real-time protocols (RTP, SRTP) and how to keep call latency invisible
– You’ve deployed and maintained telephony infra in production environments
– Bonus: experience with AI voice agents, IVR systems, or speech-to-text pipelines
– Bonus: You once explained NAT traversal or STUN/TURN to a product manager without losing your mind

Our Culture & Core Beliefs

This system only works if the call connects.
If the voice drops, the magic’s gone. That’s why your role matters more than most people will ever know.

We believe in:
– Clarity over chaos
– Uptime as a sacred duty
– Zero-downtime deploys and whisper-quiet handoffs
– Voice as presence—not just a channel
– Running it live. Running it clean. Running it proud.

Our Selection Process

You’ll be evaluated on tech, taste, and toughness:
– Culture and collaboration interview
– Infrastructure design challenge (telephony architecture + AI integration)
– Real-time systems test (debugging & failover planning)
– Final deep-dive with the founders (mission, margin, magic)

We don’t hire IT staff.
We hire voice engineers who make machines sound human.

Location & Compensation

– Based at our Almere HQ, The Netherlands
– You’ll work closely with AI, infra, and conversational teams—on-site, in sync
– Compensation: well above market average
– Because voice is the first impression. And you’re in charge of that handshake.

If you believe that every great AI conversation starts with a crystal-clear “hello”—this is your role. You’ll be the reason people hear what the machine has to say.
